This page is the overview. The complete map, with every authoritative file path, is ARCHITECTURE.md at the repository root. Read the relevant section there before changing agent code.

The processes

Every client, web, mobile, voice and the bots, talks to the same API. Run GAIA locally lists the databases behind it and what each one holds.

The agents

A chat message is handled by three tiers of AI agents, built with LangGraph:
  1. Comms agent. The one you talk to. It has almost no tools of its own. It hands work to the executor and narrates progress, so the conversation stays responsive while long tasks run.
  2. Executor agent. The worker. It has the full tool set: files, shell, research, todos, memory, and the connected apps it activates when a task needs them.
  3. Subagents. Isolated workers for bulky or separate jobs, and one per custom MCP integration (MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is a standard way to plug external tools into an AI).
Section 17 of ARCHITECTURE.md, “Where do I change X?”, answers the most common questions directly.
